Honestly we should be damn proud when people tell us that “we just sit there” when we ride. We’ve fooled the majority of the world into thinking that riding a horse is simple.

Bc we’re just that good at making it look easy.

wow.

No matter how many times I see this, I never fail to be impressed by that last sentence.

Swing dancing has greatly influenced my wardrobe. My style pre-dancing was pretty standard fare. It’s worth noting that I detested hair bows and skirts/dresses. Then I started swing dancing… and that changed everything. I always wear a skirt or dress. I almost always wear pearls. I wear a lot of red lipstick, Keds, hair bows, and polka dots. Apparently I look like a lindy hopper. Who would have ever thought. Well, it’s finally started happening. People I don’t even know are asking me if I’m a lindy hopper because of the way I dress.
I take these questions as a compliment. And most of the time, they actually are.

Like… How could you tell? Did my Keds and polka dot swing dress give it away? Or was it the fact that my ringtone is Glenn Miller?

i really have no idea what this has to do with survival skills

Actually she has identifying which plants and berries are poisonous. She was quizzing herself. It’s foreshadowing because she later dies from eating poisonous berries; in the book, it’s seen as a foolish mistake, but because of this scene, it has implications of suicide.

Holy shit

Well the Hunger Games just became even more devastating than it already was.

I always did wonder why the ‘smartest’ one died from something she should have known about… This makes a lot more sense now.

This is me, Eliza Thornberry, part of your average family. I’ve got a dad, a mom, and a sister. There is Donnie - we found him. And Darwin, he found us. Oh yeah, about our house - it moves, because we travel all over the world. You see, my dad hosts this nature show, and my mom shoots it. Okay, so we’re not that average. And between you and me, something amazing happened… and now I can talk to animals. It’s really cool, but totally secret. And you know what? Life’s never been the same.

When you haven’t watched this show in literally 7 years and can still read this in your head in her exact voice, and remember what parts to emphasise…

I took my little brother (who falls on the autism spectrum) to see Guardians of the Galaxy and after this scene he lit up like a Christmas tree and screamed “He’s like me! He can’t do metaphors!” And for the rest of the film my brother stared at Drax in a state of rapture.

So for the last 6 days I have heard my brother repeatedly quote all of the Drax lines from the movie verbatim (one of his talents), begin studying vocabulary test words, and tell everyone he knows that people with autism can also be superheroes.

Now I am not saying that Drax the Destroyer is, or was ever, intended to be autistic. All I am saying is that it warmed my heart to see my brother have an opportunity to identify himself with a character known for his strength, badassness, and honor. And that is pretty damn awesome.

So while I adored Guardians of the Galaxy as a great fun loving film with cool characters I can do nothing but thank Marvel Studios and Dave Bautista for finally bringing a superhero to the screen that my little brother can relate to.

This legitimately made me tear up.

This is fucking why things matter.
